So, tonight I got my latest order from Shiro Cosmetics. That's right, I heard Shiro released another set of Intertubes, and I was on them like Donkey Kong.
The Intertubes are $6.50 each. If you buy a bunch as 'a series of tubes', they are $6.00 each for 5 or more, or $5.50 each if you buy ten or more. The new collection has five colors, and I already had the first ten, so I just ordered the new ones.
Descriptions from the website:
Royal Wedding Hat: Pale neutral
Forty Cakes: Bright hot pink
Nyan Cat: Pink rose with gold shimmer
Shoop da Whoop: Bright, hot red
Team Buffy: Vampy plum/raisin
From bottom to top: Royal Wedding Hat, Forty Cakes, Nyan Cat, Shoop da Whoop, Team Buffy
Overall: these are great, possibly even better than the first set. The texture is amazingly butter-smooth, the color payoff is wonderful, the colors themselves are fun but wearable.
Royal Wedding Hat is pale. Very, very pale. It's only about half a shade darker than my skintone, and I wear the lightest shade of pretty much every foundation ever made (and some of those are too dark for me), so...pale. Because it's pale and pigmented, it shows up really well on my lips - in fact, it was the only one of the set that I felt I needed to wear over lip balm to make sure it applied as evenly as possible. A couple of coats gives me a nice, really light pink lip. I could also see this working well under bright lip colors to tone things down a bit. This is an awful picture, sorry, but you can see how it works with lip color to get that reeeeaaaally light pink.
Forty Cakes: Bright pink! Tends toward the cool side, which makes it look a little lighter on me somehow? It's really pretty, but I guess I don't have much else to say about this one except PINK!
Nyan Cat: Such a beautiful color! Despite the gold shimmer, this rosy color manages to be an almost My Lips But Better shade. I would feel comfortable throwing this on in the morning before heading to the office any day.
Shoop da Whoop: On me, this is VERY warm, almost coral-y. I really like it! Two caveats: most lip colors pull warm on me, and I have almost never met a coral/orange-based lip product I didn't like. (Still, I recommend it. So pretty!)
Team Buffy: OMG I am in love. I keep meaning to buy more wine-y, plum-y, dark shades and somehow never get around to it - but especially since I've been in a more autumnal mood, this is the perfect lip color for me right now. It's simply gorgeous. (Another not-so-great picture, but trust me, this color is pure win).
So, as you can probably tell from my plethora of exclamation points, I am entirely happy with my purchase and recommend the Intertubes wholeheartedly. I do also like that after Shiro's original line, which was equally amazing but VERY intense colors that were generally not for the faint-of-heart (I mean, I love Sad Keanu but I really can't wear it every day/into the office), that this collection is easier to wear.
And now I can say, once again, that I have ALL THE INTERTUBES! *cackles*
Whoops, I'm about to get kicked out of Starbucks. Since I've been reading a lot of fashion blogs lately, let me leave you with this video which has nothing to do with makeup but is amazing. Night, all!
